My Story

Daniel Cogan

For over two decades I've managed the pain of patients with advanced illness. While I was able to help nearly all of my patients, I also encountered some whose pain I could not relieve. These patients had chronic, nonstructural pain, and the traditional medical treatments did not work. I felt frustrated that I could not help them feel better. I knew I needed a new way to alleviate their suffering.

My search led me to find two breakthrough evidence-based treatment models:  1) Pain Reprocessing Therapy, and 2) Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy. These are treatments with a solid base of high quality research showing that long-lasting pain and symptom relief is possible. Seeing my first patient respond to these treatments was one of the most moving and meaningful experiences in my career.

I'm excited because now I'm able to meet more patients’ needs, particularly those considered “difficult to treat.”

Since training in these two techniques, I believe I’ve found the missing puzzle piece. Finally I have reliable, evidence-based tools to combine with my nursing skills and years of clinical expertise. It's truly a new era in pain and symptom relief. I’m delighted to join you on this exciting path to recovery.
